My dear friends,
After much thought, it has come to my mind that it is time for me to say goodbye to the world of fandom
and concentrate on what is happening in real life. Due to this journal having been set up mainly for the
sake of my fic-writing, I wish to put it to sleep as I don't plan to write any more fics in the near future.
The world of fandom has been so much fun, but as my love of Harry Potter is steadily becoming
passive, I think it's time for me to leave it when I can still look at it with some fondness. :)
All of you on my f-list have been wonderful, kind and encouraging, so thank you for everything you have done.
I shall miss you all very much and perhaps I will return one day. I'm not leaving LJ completely yet, but will be
keeping my other journal going for a little while to indulge myself in a little graphics dabbling.

A few last points:
+ I intend to finish the three Harry Potter fics that are currently WIPs, so there may be new
fic posts in this journal as I will need to use it to finish my challenge at
+All of you are more than welcome to de-friend this journal as it will be inactive.
+ Forgive me for the abrupt decision, but I wish you all the best in whatever you do!
+ Many thanks again.

I just found out about this little sketch, and I've been grinning away like a loon since!
I know I've been raving about the Robin Hood series and you're all probably rolling your eyes at the mere mention of it, but I'm afraid you'll just have to put up with a little more fangirling from me. This sketch was done by Richard Armitage (Guy of Gisborne) and Lucy Griffiths (Marian) for the charity appeal Children in Need.

I know I keep promoting this, but I'm determined to keep it up until we have more recruits! I know many of you on my flist are admirers of the wonderful Jason Isaacs, so please go and show your appreciation by joining
jason_stills. It is an icon community for the great actor, but there's no real pressure for you to make icons right away. Even if you can simply join in with the voting, it would be a great help.

So. I finally got around to watching HBP this afternoon, and I have to say, I enjoyed it quite a lot despite the fact that it was so very different from what I had in mind. It didn't really keep to the books very well, but it was nice in its own way. By now, I've given up trying to expect the HP films to mirror the books because I know it's tough trying to get so many pages narrowed down to a few hours of film. Director David Yates has done a surprisingly alright job on this movie as well (I wasn't so fond of how he had done OotP), though I do wish they still had Alfonso Cuaron (he directed PoA).
Still, who am I to complain? Warner Bros finally gave us what we wanted, and I have to admit that it was worth the wait.
( Mini Review with some *spoilers* )
Anyways, enough of that. I'm off to immerse myself in some writing. Let's see if I can resurrect the slumbering muse.
ETA: I've had time and talk to review my opinions on HBP the Movie, and I'm not sure I'm so enthusiastic anymore. All these good points still exist, but it's starting to be eclipsed by the not-so-good factors about the film. I've changed my mind about David Yates; he might've done alright portraying certain themes in the movie, but he did a sloppy job bringing the real HBP story to screen. There. I said it.

Just a few things that have been going on:
Also, I thought this would never happen to me, but I'm beginning to feel my obsession with the HP fandom fade bit by bit. I always thought Harry Potter would be the one fandom I'd always be part of, but this feeling of change is reminding me that it's never good or logical to rely on one's own expectations. Still, I've got a few stories to finish, so I should really get back into it for at least one more time. *musters strength*
Another note: I'm very sorry to all those on my flist if I haven't commented of late. I've had a busy week, but you'll be sure to find me around from now on. Maybe I'll break my semi-hiatus! :P
Hope you're all well! ♥
- I just finished watching the whole of the BBC Robin Hood Series 2. It's been a bit of a movie marathon as I've been watching probably far too many episodes each day.
- I graduated from college last Friday, so I'm free of that forever!
- Been making a few bits and bobs for
jason_stills and
richard_stills . - Have caught a cold, which really isn't much fun.

I'm not going to be going away far. Just a little over the hill to see if the grass is greener on the other side.
I'll still be around to leave comments and things, but I'm afraid
I might not get around to posting anything for a while.
I'm just going through a phase of appreciating period dramas and suchlike.
I still love Harry Potter and its fandom, but I'm just taking a wee break.
All this raving about Richard Armitage has led me to delve in graphics-making.
I may eventually post them in the little journal I made:
This isn't a goodbye. Just a little nod.
See you around, lovely flisters!

May I just say that Richard Armitage is
I just watched him in the BBC drama North and South and The Vicar of Dibley. In N and S, he was amazing as the harsh yet well-meaning John Thornton, and he really put Mr Darcy on the back shelf, in my humble opinion. Thornton was a fascinating character, whom Richard brought to life in his dark, brooding, yet secretly sensitive way.
For any fan of period dramas, North and South is definitely a must. The rest of the cast was fabulous as well, so very worth the four hours it takes. Seriously, it reduced me to couch potato, since I was couch-bound for the entire time!
For a laugh, I watched the Christmas 2007 episode of The Vicar of Dibley, which was great because it was nice to see him being light-hearted and cheerful for a change. He's a real cutie in that, so if any of you like the timelessly good combination of hilarity and adorable males, do go watch.
Here's a picspam, just because I want to flail and flap like the silly fangirl that I am...

Had a tiring but fun weekend because it was a friend's birthday and we went out for some hardcore clubbing!!! It did mean I didn't get to finish my hermionebigbang fic, but at this point, I don't really mind in the least, because I was beginning to feel the rush was making me lose control over the characterisations of everyone. I did write about 55,000 words on it, so maybe I can recycle it and post is as a story later on.
At least I can now concentrate on my remaining ficcles. The poor things have been dreadfully neglected and I'd really love to get them nice and finished.
I've also been watching the BBC Robin Hood from the very beginning/first series, and have to admit, they are so much fun, even if they're a load of crap regarding historical accuracy, etc. etc. Robin's a bit of a twerp, but Sir Guy is incredible in more ways than one, so I keep watching.
Oh, and if you like a bit of Jason Isaacs, please do go and see/make/vote for icons at
jason_stills . We could do with some more appreciators!
And now, a meme:
Leave me a comment asking for a letter if you want to play.
Then, write 10 things that you love starting with that letter.
Post the list in your journal.

I am wearing my Slytherin tie as I type this now. *g* It's very cool and green and pretty and silver and nice....
In other news, I'm fretting over my
hermionebigbang fic (sorry, I keep going on about it) because I probably won't be able to finish it completely to make up a rough draft to send in. Hopefully though, they'll be kind enough to let me get away with it. The other part of the problem is, that I had it all roughly plannned out, but obviously little bits here and there changed from the original plan and I'm just worried it isn't up to scratch, but oh well... I guess I'll have a beta go over it and see what's wrong and what's right. *shrugs*

I'm just running past screaming a new name.
Trust me to get into something in the middle of Series 3. Do any of you watch the BBC Robin Hood? A friend of mine recommended it and I watched a couple of episodes just now and I have to admit, I'm actually enjoying it! I'd heard of it often enough before, but always thought it would be pretty awful, but it's actually just perfect for me.
Medieaval drama. Check.
Lots of galloping horses. Check.
Hot men in hot leather outfits. Check.
Swords and old-style badassness. Check.
Strangely enough, I'm completely head-over-heels for a particular Sir Guy of Gisborne. He's not my usual type (too thin nose), but really and truly, I absolutely adore him and practically swoon every time he comes on the friggin' screen! *iz gaga*
I've just bought the First Series to watch through as a time-passer, because gawd knows I need some good old-fashioned knights-in-armour to cheer me up.
Here, have some sneering, delightfully nasty-turned-semi-good Richard Armitage in fetching leather.

ETA: I'm tempted to fiddle around with him in the good world of fanfiction. :P

Yes, that's right. A huge thanks to
stella8h8chang for introducing me to the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. This parody-style production that was written by a student-theatre group was hilarious, even if a bit crackish. At first, I was thinking 'WTF? What is this?', but that was quickly replaced by guffaws and giggles at seeing the larger-than-life characters of this musical. Even the actors who seemed totally different from either book or movie canonised characters were somehow acceptable by the end.
If you like a bit of silliness and all seven Harry Potter books mushed into one jingly musical, do have a look!

Over the last few days, I've been dying to get hold of one of these:

Why? Well, I just thought it would be very purty and nice to stroke/pet/coo over since I can't get my own Slytherin. All I need to do for this immense plan of action is to get the brother to buy it on eBay. I did say I'd pay him back for it, but luckily, my family have never been much good at paying each other back (it's family money after all, isn't it? :P) and my brothers are very kind and generous to their weeny sister.
Maybe this could be my 'writing tie' which I can wear everytime I do some writing. Which reminds me, I'm partly through my
hermionebigbang fic, but I'm beginning to worry because the deadline for getting it in is July 3rd and I've got a fair bit still to do to bring it to a close. Thing is, I'm just worried I've been rambling too much and dragging things out too much... I guess that's what happens whn you write the same story every day. The muse needs some time to breathe.
Also, I saw some films recently which were great. Defiance with Daniel Craig was good and The Reader with Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes was amazing. Both recommendable, but Defiance is quite heavy (WWII era).
Not much else going on at the moment. I've forsaken my other stories for the hermionebigbang, but that'll hopefully be all over in a week or two, so things'll be back to normal before you know it! :)

The answer to this depends very much on what kind 'bad' you're talking about. While being a traffic warden or rubbish disposer might sound like one of the least likable jobs available to people, a part of me does think being a president or prime minister must be pretty bad. That's if you want to be a good leader. I'm sure many people would love to be at the head of the country simply for the novelty value and the fact that there's quite a bit of money/power/fame/etc. to be had in that post, but honestly, it can't be that fun catering to the needs of several million people.
So, I guess I just avoided in giving a clear answer to the original question. I should be a polititian.
Regarding other news, I've done 27,000 words on my
hermionebigbang fic but it hasn't gone past the middle of the story yet. Bit crazy, if you ask me, seeing as I was previously worried on reaching the minimum word limit (20,000). Ah well... As long as I don't forget to live completely, I'm sure I'll be alright. The muse has been quite kind to me recently and I hope he stays with me through all this.
Also, I watched Hannibal Rising and The Last Minute, both of which were enjoyable in their own way. Hannibal Rising was a great gory watch with a bit of psychological mess thrown in, which is always interesting. I only watched The Last Minute because I head Jason Isaacs did some singing and dancing in it, and I have to say, it was worth watching the rest of the unusual (weird is probably a better word) film just to see good ol' Jason in his black dealer's suit.
For those of you who want to see a bit of JI moves, have a watch below. Be warned: it's a really weird setting that will seem only stranger to those who haven't seen the whole film.

Sorry, but I'm too overwhelmed with the silly fangirl flailing urge and therefore, simply must make this post!
I decided to catch up on some Jason Isaacs after not having seen much of his stuff for a while, and ended up watching The Tuxedo (with Jackie Chan) and Dragonheart. Both were entertaining in their own way, especially Tux, just because I've always enjoyed a bit of Jackie Chan showdown time. :)

Well, enough of that. I am now off to watch a little bit of the genius comdedian Bill Bailey!

I'm just nipping in to say Happy Birthday to Draco, just because he's been a great character to have in the HP books. I really think he made the read so much more interesting as I've never been a big fan of Harry himself, and find it amusing to have people like Snape and Malfoy bring up an admirable opposition.
So, here's to you, Draco! Thanks for making the HP world that little bit brighter! :P
*cheers*
And here's the B-day Boy in all his smug glory (the words across this banner are the French for Power Blood Glory).

I'm sure daddy's proud of you, you adorable little brat. :)

This post is dedicated to John Dawlish, the best and most unfortunate Auror in the wizarding world. I have never heard of a more admirable or pitiable man than that poor sod. Everytime he's mentioned in the books, he's having his ears pulled by some stray spell or being convenienty knocked out in a completely unnecessary manner that obviously reflects JKR's sadistic streak. What is it with picking on poor buggers? There's been Snape, Barty Jr., Dawlish, Voldemort, (Oh hell, let's throw in some Malfoy love as well) and what about Draco and Lucius? Those poor little lambs never did a thing to harm anybody, and then JK goes off and turns Junior into a miserable brat and Senior into some patronising prat who looks f*cking awesome who everybody hates and I'd do him anyday ponces about the HP world with nothing better to do than bothering Dumbledore with silly letters.
Anyways, coming away from the major digression there, I just want to say that Dawlish is awesome, whether canon depicts it or not, and he deserves some major appreciation for playing such an important role in the flow of events and contributing to the greatness of HP. *applauds enthusiastically*
In honour of Dawlish, I have a wee ficcle if anybody would like to appreciate him. Otherwise, have a wonderful day/night!
